"Great Benefit has partnered with City & County almost since inception in 2010. Initially the working brief was to establish a stable and scalable technology infrastructure, with an IT enabled workforce that could accommodate rapid M&A led growth in support of burgeoning organic business opportunities. Over time that remit has been broadened with GB now providing a range of consultancy services covering day to day infrastructure management, data analysis and warehousing, purchasing and critically development on a number of bespoke applications to support the business through periods of significant growth and change in ownership.

Utilising Great Benefit has enabled us to tap into a range of project based skillsets that we could not have accommodated in-house. Ian’s advice, support and vendor partnerships have opened up a range of previously unknown working opportunities which has allowed us to react to and accommodate ever-changing regulatory benchmarking requirements, the challenges that developing a national brand dictate and to maintain an economically viable operating model in the face of evermore challenging market forces.

"In April 2014, Great Benefit was recommended to the organisation to help us improve our technology platform and move away from a failing cloud infrastructure and network provider. Led by Ian Jones, they more than fulfilled the recommendation.

They quickly got to grips with the key IT issues in our organisation and built excellent working relationships with management and key staff. Ian worked with the internal IT team to design the future strategy and after he successfully presented to the Board for approval, led the change programme that produced huge benefits for all our users. In addition to ensuring that the programme met its technical, time and budgetary objectives, Great Benefit also enhanced our shareholder value and so supported a planned sale of our business by our PE backers.

At the same time as delivering the main project, Great Benefit also implemented on our behalf:
- installation of a new MPLS network and datacentre with independent DR backup;
- transition to third party software support;
- integration of five company acquisitions;
- supplier selection and consolidation of the mobile phone contracts;
- consolidation of disparate office telephone systems to a single unified and resilient system across all our 20 sites.

Ian's task in dealing with multiple strands of work was highly demanding, and he along with his team have been unfailingly positive and constructive, giving clear and effective guidance. As a result of their ongoing work, our IT provision is hugely improved, with greater reliability and resilience and the ability to cope with our future growth plans."
